Marc Shkolnick Named Young Alumni Award Winner

Former Nebraska Alumni Association associate executive director Marc Shkolnick, who now heads the Colorado State Alumni Association, will receive the Nebraska Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Award at the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement at the Nebraska Champions Club May 4. UNL graduates Edwin Dosek, George Haecker, Jack Koenig, Ted Kooser, Robert Krohn, Ray Ward and George Schlothauer will receive Alumni Achievement Awards from the Nebraska Alumni Association during the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement at the Nebraska Champions Club May 4. BFC Scholarship Recipients Announced

The 2007 Breakfast for Champions scholarship recipients are Tyler John Pieper of Farnam and Ashley Paseka of Prague, participants in the 2003 breakfast. Both will attend UNL this fall. At Farnam, Pieper was class president, captain of the football and wrestling teams, FFA president and Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute ambassador. Paseka is three-sport letterwinner, a UNL/Omaha World-Herald Distinguished Scholar and winner of the U.S. Air Force Mathematics and Science Award.

Nebraska 8th Graders Honored at Breakfast

More than 300 eighth-grade student leaders from across the state will be honored at the ninth annual Breakfast for Champions May 11 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association and Nelnet, the event honors eighth graders for their academic, leadership and civic activities. Read more.

Bill Dana to Receive Distinguished Service Award

A longtime friend of the university and the Nebraska Alumni Association will be honored with the association’s Distinguished Service Award May 5 during UNL commencement exercises. William C. Dana, ’79, CEO of Dana Magid Development LLC in Omaha, served on the alumni association’s board of directors for 12 years, including a term as president. Read more.
